The Father of Modern Reformed Theology.

Born in 1509 in the Picardy Region of France, John Calvin followed Martin Luther to become one of the premier leaders of the Protestant Reformation.

In 1536, Calvin published a four book treatise outlining the Doctrine of the Reformed Faith. Today he remains a figure head for the Hungarian Reformed Churches in America.

The four books, entitled "The Institutes of the Christian Religion," are broken down by subject in the following manner:

BOOK 1: Knowledge of God the Creator.

BOOK 2: The Knowledge of God the Redeemer in Christ, First Disclosed to the Fathers under the Law, and Then to Us in the Gospel.

BOOK 3: The Way in Which we Receive the Grace of Christ: What Benefits Come to Us From It, and What Effects Follow.

BOOK 4: The External Means or Aids by Which God Invites Us Into the Society of Christ and Holds Us Therein.
